Exciting news for all Instagram lovers – Facebook Ads for Instagram Stories.

As a true Instagram lover and a little bit Facebook Ads wannabe scientist, I am pretty excited that now we have Ads for Instagram Stories as well. This happened a few days ago and I just can't wait to incorporate this into my Ads campaigns.

How to make Facebook Ads for Instagram Stories?

When you open your Ads Manager you have to choose your objective: select Reach in Awareness column. Then, you need to edit your placements so that Instagram Stories can be included in your Instagram Ads campaign. If you select that option, all other options will be unchecked and your budget money will only be only spent on Facebook Ads for Instagram Stories. Why are Instagram Stories so popular and convinient for business?

  • Instagram Stories saw the light of the day last August. Since then, more than 150 million Instagram users have been posting Instagram Stories on a daily basis.
  • One in five stories gets a direct message from the viewers.
  • One third of the most viewed Instagram Stories are some kind of business related.
  • 70 percent of Instagram users are following at least one business profile.
  • In January Facebook started testing Facebook Ads for Instagram Stories.

Characteristics of Facebook Ads for Instagram Stories

For now there are only two types of Facebook Ads for Instagram Stories:

  • Image
  • Videos

Facebook Ads for Instagram Stories

Currently Facebook Ads for Instagram Stories mainly serve for brand awareness. As the only objective you can select for now is Reach, this is logical.

The image or video you choose to promote simply has to make an impression. Since Facebook doesn’t like images with too much text, you can promote your business using a video. Use those 15 seconds to tell your story and make a strong impression.

For what kind of business would you use Facebook Ads for Instagram Stories and what kind of updates would you like to see in the future?
